Travel anxiety and a day sesh in Sagres

So I'm freakin out a bit. I'm spending too much money too quickly. It hasn't even been a week and I feel a panic setting in.

I gotta start couch surfing I think. Ugh I don't know.

I thought I could budget $50 a day, but really it's more like €50 a day and that's not the same thing.

I'm stressing. If I'm being perfectly honest.

A little voice inside of me says, Giada, don't worry. You'll be okay. It will be great. But by brain is doing jumping jacks of stress.

Haley tells me its a normal part of the process. Worrying about the budget. Wondering how far it can take you. Dreading the idea of having to go back to reality early.

But it all works out… apparently.

Today we took a day trip to Sagres. It was once considered to be the end of the world. It is the southwestern most point of mainland europe. And I sat at the edge.

It was very clearly out of season, but beautiful none the less. I guess that's what I get for travelling in the spring. But if it were actually in season, it would have been flooded with tourists no doubt.

What's amazing is there was actually people surfing. Oh how badly I wanted to join them, but I'm saving it for sunnier days. I'm a baby in cold water AND cold weather. It's either one or the other, not both.

The food was actually the most disappointing of all the food I've had so far. Guess that's what I get for ordering a salad. In my defence, it was an Octopus salad, and so far all the other salads I've had were amazing.

Like last night, I had a house salad and hummus with bread. And it was SO good. Silly thing though, considering the restaurant was supposedly known for having the WORLD's best burger. I was just really craving freshness and hummus… Oh. By the way, in case you ever go to Lagos, the place is called Nah Nah Bah. It's pretty great. Check it out. They've apparently got the best burgers, but they've definitely got amazing hummus!

Otherwise, we stayed in the hostel for the night. Their hostel, not mine. And Simone made us a beautiful dish of pasta primavera. It was lovely. We accompanied it with 3 bottles of wine. And a game of Cards Against Humanity: UK version. They've got some strange slang, like Dogging. That's just messed up. Though I guess there are bars in Toronto where people pay to do the same thing. So whatever, who am I to judge.

Ok, that's a weird note to end it on, but that's basically all I've got to say.

OH! Actually. Today I almost lost my wallet. And both my credit cards were declined. I wonder if mercury's gone retrograde…

I just checked, it's due in a few days. So I feel like that was a little reminder to keep my stuff in check.

Oh the wonders of travelling.

Ok, that's it for tonight.
