Pretty Bleak
Darkness hides
it shield and shrouds
Trouble makers know
Abound
Well lit city
ain't it pretty?
Complete with
a false sense of security
Purity, virginity
hard to find in this vicinity
big city living
seems to welcome the tried and gritty
People watch and you will find
Every manner of human kind
Fascial expression, cultural features
Fashion trends, corner preachers
Billboard signs
Void of a message
Advertisements
with nothing to say
Talk about a waste of space
Missed opportunity
A powerful "voice"
used for stupidity
I've got a message for the masses
Doesn't say "buy me"
But it certainly passes
for something of substance
Why aren't we saying
what needs to be said
why aren't we discussing
why we see red
What will we do
when all we know
collapses thanks to the
sins of a few, and we let it happen
Where will we go
when water no longer flows
from our taps in our houses
and there's no hydro to keep it "lit"
Take to the streets?
To whine and to bleat
over the things we know
We did to ourselves
I bet that day is closer than we think.
